What the Judges are Looking For: YOUNG GO-GETTERS!

We are all so excited about our upcoming event, YOUNG GO-GETTERS ! I absolutely love how this event provides our young entrepreneurs with an opportunity to practice their business skills, and venture out a bit into the world of marketing, and earning a profit.

If you are taking part in this event, you must be wondering what our judges are looking for in our young entrepreneurs! After all, there are HUGE prizes up for grabs in this competition! Well without further or do, let’s take a look at some key aspects our judges will be looking for in this competition!

1) Creativity

Our judges are hoping that our candidates will be creative in their choice of products! They are looking for something different…for example, something like coffee in a styrofoam cup is a great idea. But why not spruce it up by baking some cute cookies and including a cookie with each cup? A little creative and personal touch can really make a product stand out!

2) Presentation

How does your stall look??? We want to see that your stall is not only neat and tidy, but welcoming and attractive! We want to be drawn to your stall! It’s entirely up to you how you would do that! You could do something old school with crocheted table cloths and napkins, or something more modern, or you could go crazy with colours and balloons, you could make a great big colourful banner- WHATEVER YOU LIKE! Have fun with this one!

3) Products Chosen

In a way, this one ties in with 1) Creativity. Yes, your product chosen must be creative and have some or other personal touch. But more than that- you need to choose a product that people may be interested in, that you can put a high enough profit on- and earn enough to make it worth your while! This criteria involves more calculating than our Creativity criteria. Yes, making a rocket ship to sell is a VERY creative product, but there’s a very low chance of anyone really wanting to buy one…never mind afford it! So for your 3) Product Chosen criteria, you need to think realistically. Is this a product people will be interested in? Can I make enough money off of it to make it worth while?

4) Customer Service

A BIG part of our goals at Diskonto Stationers- is Customer Service. What is customer service? Really, it’s putting the client first! Making them feel welcome. Being friendly to the people coming to look at your stall. Offering your help and assistance when they might need it, and letting them browse through your stall comfortably if they would like to take a look. Interestingly, it would be a lot about the manners your parents would have taught you growing up! Always greet your customers, smile at them, make eye contact, and wish them well when they leave!

5) Percentage Profit

At the end of the day, the proof will be in the pudding, or in this case- the profits made! If all of the previous criteria were met, then this one should be right up there!

At the end of the day, we just want to encourage you as a Young Entrepreneur! Maybe one day, you’d like to start a business of your own! It’s not an easy thing to do, but it is so worth it! And above all- we want you to have fun! This event if going to be tons of fun! You could make new friends, and learn something new about yourself!

Our team at Diskonto is so excited to have you join us for this event. We can’t wait!
